COURT MONITOR (Funded by the Minneapolis Foundation):
The Indian Child Welfare Court Monitor insures that the Federal Indian Child Welfare
Act, P.L.95~608, and the MN STAT.257.35 is complied with in an effort to protect the
rights of Indian children and families. The Court Monitor also provides consultation
and technical assistance to Human Services and Legal systems regarding Indian Child
Welfare Act cases.
The center litigates in Indian child welfare cases.

The mission of the United Native Nations is to  promote the continuation and advancement of
 indigenous peoples; to protect our Spiritual and Cultural Heritage; to foster unity, friendship,
tolerance and human rights; to feed our children; to empower our Peoples and to take our rightful place among the nations of the world.

Midwest Treaty Network an alliance of Indian and non-Indian community groups that
 support the sovereign rights of Native American nations. While  founded in the context of the Chippewa (Ojibwe) treaty struggle, it is concerned generally with defending and strengthening Native cultures and nationhood, protecting Mother Earth, and fighting racism and other forms of
 domination throughout our region (midwestern United States).

Sealaska Corporation is the corporate site for the Alaskan Tlingit and Haida
shareholders. In addition to stockholder information, there are articles about Alaska
native subsistence rights.

Chickasaw Enterprises is under the business and industry division of the Chickasaw
Nation in Oklahoma.

The National Tribal Development Association is headquartered in Box Elder,
Montana. It was established in 1995 by a group of 15 tribal leaders who came
together in order to advance their common interest in the development of tribal
economies. The site includes a handbook on development incentives for
reservations, a list of member tribes, project reports from the Harvard Project on
American Indian Economic Development (1988), a handbook on development
incentives for reservations, a list of Indian owned businesses, and a paper on
enterprise zones in Indian Country.

The National Center for American Indian Enterprise's mission is "to develop and
expand an American Indian private sector which employs Indian labor, increases
the number of tribal and individual Indian businesses, and positively impacts and
involves reservation communities, by establishing business relationships between
Indian enterprises and private industry." One arm of the organization provides
assistance to reservation-based businesses seeking government contracts. The
Native American Business Development Centers in California, Arizona and
Washington work with the U.S. Department of Commerce to put together financial
and loan packages for tribal businesses, help with business plans, and other
management and technical assistance. A Business Consultant program assists
businesses with web page design, computerized accounting, and tax advice.

The American Indian Chamber of Commerce promotes American Indian businesses
in Oklahoma.

The American Indian Gambling and Casino Information Center operates as a
clearinghouse and educational, legislative, and public policy resource for tribes,
policymakers, and the public on Indian gaming issues and tribal community
development. It's sponsored by the National Indian Gaming Association.

The Native American Manufacturer's Network is a group of eight tribal nations in
Montana and Wyoming.

The Alliance of Tribal Tourism Advocates was organized in 1993 by tribal
governments in the South Dakota region. "The consortium works to enhance and
promote tourism as a means of economic development, while maintaining respect
for tribal traditions and lands." They publish intertribal tourism materials, host
workshops, and sponsor national marketing efforts.

The Minnesota American Indian Chamber of Commerce exists to promote Native
American entrepreneurs, and to provide education, training, and employment services to Native American youth and adults.

Karen Strom authors this list of articles and websites on gaming, titled Index of
Native American Gaming Resources on the Internet.

Karen Strom also authors the Index of Native American Commercial Resources on
the Internet. Here is a directory of businesses with web sites. The Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians home page includes descriptions of
activities of their economic development subcommittees.

Northern California Indian Development Council consists of eighteen American
Indian community organizations located in Northern California counties. Sample
tribal business codes are included.

The Intertribal Council of Arizona operates projects to provide tribal governments
with training in resource development.

The National Congress of American Indians recognizes the need for sustained
economic growth in Indian communities across the country. They are working with
the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Dept. of Commerce to
identity characteristics of successsful Indian businesses.

ONABEN - A Native American Business Network, is a non-profit public benefit corporation created by Northwest Indian Tribes to increase the number and profitability of private enterprises owned by Native Americans. ONABEN offers training, individual counseling,
assisted access to markets and facilitated access to capital for its clients. Each of the ten tribes hosting an ONABEN Service Center pays annual dues of $2,500 plus 40% of the cost of operating their site. The sites, located on reservations in Oregon, Washington and California, deliver services to all citizens regardless of tribal affiliation. Some have up to 40% of users coming from the surrounding non-Native community.

The First Nations Development Institute promotes culturally appropriate economic
development. It operates the Native Assets Resource Center.
