    The impact of global warming in North America
    WASHINGTON, DC, February 5, 2001 (ENS) - Seven of the largest environmental groups in the United States have collaborated to produce an interactive map of the world illustrating the realities of global climate change.

    <-click on map for link to web site

    Global average temperatures have warmed about one degree Fahrenheit since 1900. The ten warmest years on record have occurred since 1983, seven of them since 1990, according to measurements from around the world compiled by the World Meteorological Organization.

    The Global Warming: Early Warning Signs Map indicates places with direct manifestations of a widespread and long term trend toward warmer global temperatures - called fingerprints. READ IT..

    {EXCERPTED FROM On This Date In North American Indian History
    By Phil Konstantin}

    1793: After William Blount gained the promise of CHICKAMAUGA Chiefs to stop their raids and murdering of European settlers on May 29, 1792, the rampages continued. Today, Blount returns to the CHICKAMAUGAs at Coyatee with the same request and an offer for the Principal Chiefs to visit the "great white father" at Philadelphia. The Chiefs will consider the offer, but within the next few months the village will be attacked by Europeans. This will harden the CHICKAMAUGAs, and some of their CHEROKEE neighbors, hearts. The attacks will eventually continue.

    HEATING FUND
    Emergency heating funds....the weather has turned sharply colder and it appears that it will be a much colder winter than the last few we have experienced creating an incredible hardship for many.
    Money orders sent to the Grass Roots Oglala Lakota Oyate will be distributed (or paid on account) for those in need of heating assistance.  In effect we will be creating a "voucher" system.  Your donation may be of any amount and several put together to meet minimums necessary for orders.
